Canada imposes sanctions against Rosneft, VTB Bank CEOs
WASHINGTON, Mar 15 (PRIME) -- Canada has imposed new sanctions against Russian individuals and companies including CEO of oil major Rosneft Igor Sechin and CEO of the country’s second largest bank VTB Bank Andrei Kostin over the situation in Ukraine, Canada’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
“These sanctions are in response to Russia’s military actions against three Ukrainian vessels and the capture of Ukrainian sailors in the Black Sea in November 2018. Today’s measures, coordinated with the European Union and the United States, underscore continued transatlantic unity in responding to Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine and its violation of international law,” the statement read.
The new sanctions cover 114 individuals and 15 companies including power engineering company Power Machines, Sukhoi Aviation Holding Company, Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG and United Aircraft Corporation, as seen by PRIME in the ministry’s materials.
